Weight loss is never effortless, but it does not have to be complicated, and the hot bikini body you've been wishing for might be closer than you think. Follow these two steps to help you pare down your weight loss plan and your shape in time for you to hit the beaches.

1 - Detox

Love them or hate them, detox diets can do a great job of forcing you into some of the major positive-habit patterns that are notoriously difficult for both first-time and "repeat" dieters:

• Valuing nutrition over convenience – Cutting out "most" or "some" processed foods from your diet can be difficult; cutting out all of them is often much less so. And regardless of what you think of the latest detox pet product, any dietician can tell you that replacing manufactured foods with healthy, regulated amounts of fresh fruit can be an excellent way to cut calories.

• Upping your H2O intake – Plenty of dieters hear about tricks to "replace" food with water, but the simple fact is that no matter how much you are or are not eating, you very likely need to be drinking much more water than you do. Proper water intake actually helps your body reduce its "water weight" and process – and eliminate – fat much more efficiently.

• Realigning your priorities – While epiphanies might not be standard issue for the Hollywood detox plans, there is good reason many religions regard dramatic changes in diet as an important way of expressing and even altering religious belief. Eating is a fundamentally human act, and significant changes to eating patterns may give you the space you need to realign your goals and gear up for more serious weight loss.

Talk with a nutritionist and work out a plan for a short-term "shock" diet focused on raw, cleaned vegetables and fruits, juices, and plenty of water. It might be just the excuse you need to cut your calories in a dramatic but healthy way that could have you dropping a good chunk of your chunkiness, fast.

2 – Aesthetize

For many women, being "bikini-ready" is an intimidating goal simply because they're shy of their bodies and lack the self-confidence to step out in something so "skimpy." Fortunately, you can take several steps to bring your self confidence up the extra notch it needs. For example:

• Get a new bikini from a quality swim shop with honest, positive saleswomen. In general a low-bellied, high-hipped bikini elongates the body and legs, and a halter top tends to flatter just about every breast size, but often a better-quality suit can make all the difference between awkward and attractive.

• "Tone up" your skin tone with a bottled tan. New technologies mean spray tans can look completely natural, but the best part is that a darker skin tone tends to create an illusion of slimness. It can also enhance self-confidence dramatically by disguising uneven skin texture, light spider veins, and a host of other problems.

• Pamper yourself with a facial or nice at-home manicure. Ultimately it's the diet and exercise that will lose those extra pounds, but beefing up your self-image might be exactly what you need to help you stick to your goals.
