Although we'd all like to take a magic pill and wake up our younger selves, such a thing doesn't exist. Still, since practically the dawn of man, we have been working on a quick fix to stop aging. Nowadays, advances in science have made such a pill seem right around the corner.

Dr Neetu Nirdosh, a celebrity skin doctor in the UK, has devoted her practice to turning back the clock. She views aging as the same as any disease, according to an article by Lucy Cavendish in the June 6, 2010 issue of The Observer.

Dr. Nirdosh says, "Aging is a disease that produces symptoms just like heart disease. So we should have a refined preventative treatment protocol as we do with other diseases." Like other anti-aging gurus, Dr. Nirdosh says that the key to anti-aging is in a combination of diet, exercise, supplements and treatments to boost anti-aging hormones and rectify the damage caused.

All experts, including Dr. Nirdosh, agree that collagen production is essential for looking younger. As the body ages, collagen begins to slow and stop, leading to a loss of elasticity and vitality in the skin. To look younger you need a way to make collagen. The problem is that experts can't seem to agree on the best method of making collagen.

Some turn to plastic surgery for injections of collagen to restore fullness and youthfulness. More recently, replacements for the "fake" looking collagen have also proved successful. These include facial fillers like Radiesse, Juvederm and Restylane. These fillers don't boost collagen production, but mimic its appearance in the body, giving users fuller cheeks and lips and getting rid of the "parentheses" around the mouth.

Others prefer topical treatments that promise to help the body build more collagen, helping users to look younger in doing so.

Although it seems old-fashioned, showing emotions also makes you look younger. Try to keep a stiff upper lip, because stress can cause frown lines and wrinkles, while laughter causes "laugh lines," less kindly known as crow's feet.

Working on looking younger through what your body takes in is another way to go, if you're unsure of the effects that topical creams or fillers. The simplest step is to drink plenty of water, a favorite trick of supermodels. Drinking lots of water helps to eliminate toxins, which in turn prevents and treats adult acne and also gives skin a healthy glow. Eating a diet rich in vegetables and eliminating fats and sugars is also very beneficial for skin.

Although there isn't a magic pill yet, science continues to search for one and these tips can help while you wait.
